Description
The guard gave him a push on the shoulder and snapped you are knife meat ... This is how Under the Sign of the Gods begins, a novel set in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, with the leading role of Rodrigo Calderón, who, if he were nobody, ended up becoming one of the most powerful men in Spain from 1600 to 1621, when he was beheaded in the Plaza Mayor in Madrid. An exciting period in the history of Spain that announces its future decline that began at that time. The various corruptions had seized the power that was fleeing forward. Its protagonists will live on the edge of the knife and show the limits of their own rottenness. A story of encounters and disagreements, of pacts and betrayals, of servitudes and putrefactions with an agile and accurate style in which the author mixes reality with fiction and turns great writers like Lope or Cervantes into characters of flesh and use. Fiction and reality in a world where Empress María coexists with Quevedo, the Duke of Lerma with Felipe III and Góngora with characters like Leopoldo del Prado who never existed. Story of emotion and passions that reveals our immediate present and explains the conditions of our reality.
