Description

In this novel the protagonist is blood. It flows, moistening two parallel stories: 17th and 21st centuries fused by blood ties between a woman facing a surprising, devastating pregnancy, and a Parisian doctor, a French court bloodletter who falls from grace for his reckless experiments with that crude and enigmatic liquid bearer of human soul. Distant relatives who symbolically gather around a fetus that, faced with the possibility of being aborted, struggles to assemble a body and an identity by delving into the genes that inhabit its mother's blood. A fetus that listens, feels, moves, moves in a moving way how to get rid of its nonexistence, how to become a body that turns it into a human being, from that liquid and red silence that is its little universe. We will witness how that intimate and mysterious mother-child bond is established -from the uterine stage- through endearing genes, misunderstood bearers of destiny and love, which leads us, generation after generation, towards immortality. An ordinary woman, with fears and turbulence, whose contradictions lead her to discover that motherhood is not what the books or friends say. A woman whose motherhood ends up being capitalized.
